The orchestra began its Spring/Summer rehearsal period with a series of three conducting workshops, directed by renowned pedagogue Colin Metters (Professor Emeritus of Conducting at London's Royal Academy of Music).  Colin worked with four aspiring young conductors, who had the benefit of his vast experience and expert tuition, with the WPO as their 'instrument'.  Repertoire covered included Schumann's Symphony No. 3 'Rhenish' and Bruch's Violin Concerto, with guest soloist Soh-Yon Kim (Principal 2nd Violin with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House).

These workshops were of immense value, both to the participants and the members of the orchestra, and demonstrated the WPO's commitment to providing educational experiences for all, generated by the local community in Worthing, and in providing a platform for talented young artists towards the start of their careers.
